Fayne Daniels 19th Annual Walkathon in Support of the PRC on September 19th!

This year’s annual Fayne Daniels Walkathon will take place at the Pavilion at Lakeside Park on September 19th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the community is invited to join in the fun and walk in support of this beloved community not-for-profit as it celebrates 50 years of steadfast advocacy and assistance for Pawling’s neighbors in need.

Since 1976, the Pawling Resource Center has provided guidance and services to those who live, work or pray in Pawling and who struggle financially.  Over the years, the center has developed programs and services specific to growing needs, and it now offers a thriving food pantry, transportation services to seniors to medical appointments and grocery shopping, and delivery of needed food and supplies to those who are homebound.  Additionally, the PRC lends medical equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers to anyone in the community who requires them, including hospital beds for those whose condition warrants this step-up in care.  Counseling about and referrals to county services for the elderly or those in financial need is also offered.  The PRC offers a safe and caring place to find help and kindness when times are tough.

Fayne Daniels, a staunch supporter and former board member of the PRC, began the walkathon 19 years ago as the sole fundraiser for this charitable organization.  In 2023 it was named in her honor, posthumously, because of her dedicated support for the PRC and her advocacy for those in need.  Today, the Fayne Daniels Walkathon has grown into a community event, offering a tangible way for residents to show enthusiasm for this worthy enterprise, either by raising funds or by simply walking in support of this unique community asset.

This year, food trucks will once again be present, offering hearty fare for anyone who registers online.  Live music will be provided by Playing Mantis, prizes will be offered to the team and individual raising the most dollars, raffles will be held, and a bouncy castle and children’s games will be on site.  Additionally, Happy Life Animal Rescue will bring their adorable pups available for adoption or cuddling. This family-friendly event is also open to participant fur babies of the canine persuasion, and PRC doggy bandanas will be available for each participating pup.

Walker registration is available through the PRC website at pawlingresourcecenter.org.  PRC T-shirts will be offered to all registered participants.  Sign-in at the event begins at 10 a.m. The walk begins promptly at 11!
