Walkathon and local residents raise funds for the Pawling Resource Center

The Pawling Resource Center held its annual “Walk So They May Ride” Walkathon on September 19.   On a beautiful sunny day, a group of almost 60 local residents gathered to walk in support of the Resource Center, which provides transportation to medical appointments, and serves the community with its food bank and many other services. The Walkers had solicited sponsors for their walk, and many local businesses donated to become Corporate Sponsors for the event. The group set off from the PRC, located in the Carriage House of the John Kane House, and walked into Pawling village, passing the last Pawling Farmers Market of the season, past the Post Office and back through the village, crossing by Key Bank and returning to the Center. Upon their return, walkers were treated to a delicious barbeque, provided by Jeremy Busolt and donated by Jeff Asher who won it at a Rotary raffle. Local merchants Vinny’s Deli, Hannaford’s, The Bakeria, Eastern Hay and Mahaffey’s contributed to the barbeque and day’s events. It was a fun day with high spirits, and the resulting fundraising totaled nearly $14,000. Thanks to all who participated!

The following were corporate sponsors for the event: Pawling Engineered Products, Rose & Kiernan, Inc, Ingersoll Auto of Pawling, Joseph Meunier & Sons, Salvatore J. DiGrandi, M.D., The Grand Rehabilitation Center, Cappillino & Rothschild, Hudson ENT, The Book Cover, and Utter Brothers Feed & Supply.  The Pawling Resource Center is grateful for this outpouring of support.
